Nutritional advice
As part of your workup for liver transplant, you will be referred to
the liver dietitian for assessment.
Good nutritional status is key both pre and post-transplant.
The doctors will need to be happy that you are fit for surgery. In
order to gain strength and improve mobility and muscle mass, you
will need to be well nourished.
If you increase your exercise levels without meeting your nutritional
requirements, it is likely that you will lose further weight and
muscle mass.
If you have liver cirrhosis, it is very important that you have a
regular meal pattern. It is suggested that you should eat every
three hours to provide your liver with the energy it requires
to function.
