name of the perpetrator.
If the victim has a history of mental ill health or
substance misuse, this may impact her motivation to
protect herself and children.
The victim may lack support of family, friends, and
community or may be surrounded with family / peers
who condone DV.
The victim may not have access to or is unaware of
the availability of support services. Safety planning
is ultimately unhelpful if appropriate support or
resources are not available.
